The latest member of the global Safehotels team, Oratios Mouratidis, comes with more than a decade’s experience working in hospitality and retail Safety and Security.

Oratios Mouratidis first learned about the importance of caring for your customers as a child, working alongside his father in the family’s supermarket.
Caring for customers has also been central to Oratios’s career as an adult. For 12 years, he has worked with hotels across Europe, helping them improve guest safety. Over this time, Oratios has visited more than 3500 properties.
Before his move into hospitality risk management as an independent consultant, Oratios worked in the food industry in his native Greece. From food production, he began to focus on food and environmental health, before gaining experience across all areas of hotel safety and security.
Safety and security need to be front of mind
When it comes to reducing risk to guests, Oratios firmly believes that education is key. “It’s important to work with hotel owners, managers and staff to help them identify potential areas of risk, and then take action to tackle those risks. Whatever rank you have in a hotel, safety and security need to be front of mind.”
Hospitality is a people business, where individuals and teams make all the difference. However, Oratios sees more scope for technology to support the human element. He has developed an app-based monitoring system, based on his twelve years’ experience working in hotel safety, to help hotel managers spot problems.
Expertise is critical
Ultimately, expertise is the critical factor: “Hotels need partners who really understand the safety and security issues that impact hotels, and who they can rely on to give them the best advice. That’s what Safehotels is known for, and it is why I am proud to have joined the Safehotels team.”
Oratios will represent Safehotels in 12 countries across the eastern Mediterranean and Balkans, providing independent expertise that will help hotels in the region’s expanding hospitality sector gain Safehotels certification. “Certification is one of the best investments you can make in your hotel. It shows guests how much you value them, and their safety and security.”
