Safehotels CovidClean(TM) Hotel Certification is a comprehensive quality assurance that tells guests and bookers your hotel is ready for business.
Joachim Törngård explains why the company has developed the new Certification:
The new baseline for business
In a world defined by Covid-19, travellers will demand reassurance their travel choices are clean and safe.
The coronavirus pandemic has dealt a severe blow to global hospitality – and, with effective treatments or vaccines still in development, the crisis is not over yet.
In the coming months, government restrictions on travel will progressively be lightened. However, in the emerging “new normal”, traveller confidence will be the critical factor in the return of travel.
To make bookings and get back in the air or on the road, travellers will need to feel satisfied that their travel choices will not expose them to unnecessary risks. They will want to see evidence their chosen hotel has taken appropriate measures to guarantee their health and safety.
An independent standard for CovidClean hotels
Safehotels has developed CovidCleanTM Hotel Certification – a comprehensive set of hygiene procedures and pandemic protocols – to enable hotels to assure guests that their property meets the appropriate standards.
Based on Safehotels experience in creating and operating the Global Hotel Security Standard© – the world’s leading independent safety and security certification standard for hotels – CovidClean covers the key sanitation topics hoteliers need to control, including cleaning, hygiene, social distancing, on-site resources, training and awareness. It is based on Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines.
Joachim Törngård, Safehotels President & CEO, said: “To bring back travel, the hospitality industry needs to instil traveller confidence and trust. We developed CovidClean to show prospective guests, and bookers, that a hotel meets the relevant standards for health and safety, and has effective pandemic management protocols in place.”
A clean bill of health
In a world where international travel remains restricted, hoteliers will work through more than one hundred standards, set out in the CovidClean program guidelines. The Certifications will be carried out via e-Checks, interviews and adapted on-site verifications.
“In the wake of a pandemic, returning travellers will demand assurance that their travel and hotel choices are safe. This is the new baseline for business,” added Joachim Törngård. “Safehotels CovidCleanTM Hotel Certification is designed to give hotels the ‘clean bill of health’ that travellers want to see.”
